This is by far the best Parasol Protectorate novel yet. I give kudos to Gail Carriger for giving her series a name that she doesn't even allude to until the third book. I think that Lady Alexia Maccon and her fearless band of werewolves, vampires and scientists will be around for a long time.
Let me just add that I have really enjoyed these novels for their wit, lovable characters and original plotlines. I never, ever expected to cry during one of them, and I did, during Blameless
. Like a little girl. I can't give away what happens at the end, but Ms. Carriger has brought us one of the most cruel and awful twists of fate imaginable - we're talking Romeo and Juliet
levels of unfairness here. It was beautiful. I'm pre-ordering Heartless
